Search a protein sequence against a profile database

This server uses the pfscan program to search a single sequence against currently available profile databases. All searchable databases contain generalized profiles. If this is not the native format of the database, the entries have been converted to the generalized profile format. There is more information on the availabledatabases, on the profile method, and on how to interpret the NScores reported by pfscan. 
Usage: Paste your sequence in one of the supported formats into the sequence field below and press the "Run ProfileScan" button. Make sure that the format button (next to the sequence field) shows the correct format

Recent developments: We have now increased our pre-release collection to approx. 290 profiles. These profiles are now also available in a format suitable for frame-tolerant searches using DNA data.
We have added a list of available profiles, which included the documentation status.
